Practical guide: take part in Agape’s work

Find the right next step for an activity enquiry, volunteering, a goods donation or a project partnership. Our work continues beyond Christmas, according to resources and delivery readiness.

Ask about an activity

Read the programme description and its current status first. Many education, mentoring and international activities are proposals awaiting resources and delivery arrangements. A description is not confirmation that places or financial assistance are available.

Email your town, the activity you are interested in, your preferred language and how we can reply. Ask about availability, eligibility, timing and any participation costs before making plans. For a child, an adult caregiver should make the first enquiry. Do not send identity documents, medical records or detailed personal accounts in the initial email.

Offer your time or skills

Tell us which skills you can contribute, your location, languages, availability and whether you can help in person or remotely. Examples include translation, learning support, logistics, fundraising administration and digital skills. Describe one concrete task and the time you could give.

Before starting, agree a role, a contact person, supervision and safeguarding arrangements. An enquiry does not guarantee a placement. Work with children requires appropriate preparation and checks; volunteers must not arrange unsupervised contact with children through social media.

Donate useful goods

Contact Agape before purchasing, collecting or delivering goods. Describe the item, quantity, condition, expiry dates where relevant, location and transport needs. For the Christmas campaign, discuss suitable food and new gifts rather than assuming all products can be accepted.

Wait for agreement on what is needed and where it can be received. Do not leave goods at the registered address without an appointment. Agree responsibility for collection, storage and delivery; an offer of goods is not a confirmed distribution to a family.

Agree the purpose of a financial gift

Use the donation page to distinguish bank transfers, the Spleis campaign for girls’ education and protection, and the separate Christmas fundraiser. Read the platform’s campaign description, fees and payment terms before donating.

For a restricted gift, ask Agape to confirm the purpose, implementation readiness and reporting in writing. Keep your payment receipt. Ask how necessary preparation costs are treated and what happens if the planned activity cannot proceed. Do not assume tax deductibility or a guaranteed delivery date.

Develop a partnership and follow progress

An initial partnership enquiry should identify your organization, registration, location, relevant experience and proposed contribution. Suggest a limited first activity with responsibilities, a realistic budget and a way to assess results.

Ask for available registration, governance and financial documents. Agree safeguarding, consent and reporting before implementation. Read our transparency updates and contact us with questions; proposals, donations received and verified results are different stages.
